MASTER’S PROGRAMS IN RUSSIA OPEN DOORS TO INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
On October 1st, the Global Universities Association in collaboration with Rossotrudnichestvo Federal Agency and the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation launched the Open Doors Olympiad: Russian Scholarship Project.
The project is aimed at attracting talented students from all over the world to the best Russian universities, running Master’s programs in a variety of fields of science.
The Open Doors Olympiad enables talented students from many countries to study across multiple locations in Russia. The winners and awardees of the Olympiad can choose from more than 500 universities in 80 cities of Russia, including universities from the prestigious international rankings - the Times Higher Education World University Rankings (THE), QS World University Rankings and the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). The winners of the Olympiad enjoy early admission to the university of their choice.
A national of any country, except the Russian Federation, as well as any compatriot permanently residing abroad, who has a Bachelor's degree or is completing a Bachelor’s degree program in 2020, can take part in the competition.
All rounds of the Olympiad are held online.
The selection criteria of the competition are transparent and clear. In 2018-2019, more than 22 thousand people from 162 countries took part in the Olympiad, and 316 participants from 60 countries became the winners.
In 2019-2020, the Olympiad is held in 11 subject areas. The winners of the Olympiad can choose any field of study from one of the subject areas of the Olympiad. They can choose one or several Russian universities, running the Master’s program of their choice.
Russia’s leading universities coordinate the work of the subject areas of the Olympiad:
Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) – Mathematics & Artificial intelligence;
Information Technologies, Mechanics and Optics University (ITMO) - Computer Science;
National Research Nuclear University (MEPhI) – Engineering & Technology and Physics;
Higher School of Economics (HSE University) – Economics and Politics & International Studies;
Tomsk State University (TSU) - Biology, Psychology, Linguistics & Modern Languages;
Novosibirsk State University (NSU) - Business & Management and Chemistry;
The Olympiad is held in two rounds.

The first qualifying round is a portfolio competition.
Participants are asked to upload their portfolios to the electronic system (platform) of the Olympiad no later than December 15, 2019.
After the evaluation of the portfolios, all selected participants are invited to take part in the final round of the Olympiad, which will be held from January 15 to 30, 2020.
The list of winners and awardees will be made public on the Project website on February 20, 2020. All Olympiad assignments, as well as Master’s programs are offered in two official languages of the Olympiad - in Russian and English.

Master’s programs in Russia open doors to international students
The Open Doors International Olympiad gives a unique chance to study in the best Russian universities without paying a tuition fee.
The Russian Federation offers scholarships to the winners of the 2019-2020 Olympiad to enroll in the best Master’s programs.
There are several study areas to choose from - Biology, Business & Management, Chemistry, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering & Technology, Linguistics & Modern Languages, Mathematics & Artificial intelligence, Physics, Politics & International Studies, Psychology.
